Celebrating the first historical type harpsichord that has arrived in Rhodes to stay, the French-Italian harpsichordist Gabrielle Resche and the Greek-Dutch countertenor Mattias Pavlous invite you to an evening of early music supported by the Catholic Archdiocese of Rhodes.
On Saturday 22 April at 20:00, in the small Oriens theatre of the Catholic Archdiocese of Rhodes in the heart of Rhodes Niohori neighbourhood, that has opened it doors again after more than 60 years, the two musicians will have an open rehearsal with works for harpsichord and countertenor voice by Bach, Buxtehude, Handel, Porpora and Vivaldi. During this 60min programme they will also explain the possibilities (and liabilities!) of this instrument and the historical (and hysterical!) performance practice style.
Gabrielle and Mattias met at the department of historical performance practice of the Royal Conservatoire in The Netherlands during their Early Music Master studies. They have collaborated with various Early Music ensembles and orchestras in Europe. Mattias Pavlous has performed in oratorios and operas by Bach, Handel, Monteverdi, Mozart, Vivaldi as well as works by contemporary composers and Gabrielle Resche is principal harpsichord teacher at the Camille Saint-Saëns Conservatoire of Dieppe in France.
